[Champions League] Manchester Utd vs.Barcelona (10/04/19) 1st Leg
Kick Off at 20:00 | Old Trafford | Quarter Final 1st Leg

Team News:
- Rashford picked up a knock during the international break. Hopefully he is ready.
Same squad as the previous, the likes of Herrera and Matic are probably fit. No new injuries.
- We will be missing Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sanchez but none are quality 1st team choices anyway.

Predicted Squad:
De Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Herrera. Pogba, Lingard Lukaku, Rashford.

Subs: Romero, Dalot, Jones, Fred, McTominay, Perreira,Martial

Opposition Report:
- Messi has scored 13 goals and set up another four in his last 10 game.
-Ousmane Demebele is a doubt with a knock.
- Barcelona beat a 10-man Atletico Madrid this weekend 2-0 in the last minutes with goals from Suarez and Messi, both are in lethal, clinical form.
- Ernesto Valverde is a very promising manager, a perfect fit for Barcelona and the natural successor to Guardiola with Luis Enrique being more counter attacking rather than possession based.

Predicted Squad:
Ter-Stegan, Sergi Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Alba, Busquets, Artur, Rakitc, Vidal, Messi, Suarez.

Subs: Cillessen,, Semedo, Murillo,Umiti,Prince-Boateng. Coutinho, Dembele (Alena)

And then Ole taught that moany cunt how he really respect a team's football heritage.

Matic and Herrera are doubts. And maybe we are better off without them. Matic right now is not match fit enough for this kind of game while Herrera is basically a PSG player on loan to us. Fuck him.

It won't happen, but tomorrow I would play a diamond because it's the best way to block Messi:

DDG - Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw - Fred, McTom, Pogba - Andreas - Lukaku, Martial (or Rashford and Martial if Marcus is fit).

RE: [Champions League] Manchester Utd vs.Barcelona (10/04/19) 1st Leg
I don't know how we win or draw given how PSG rolled us over at home without Cavani or Neymar. With injuries and no momentum this time around, it will be a miracle if they don't score an away goal.

We need to get the basics right.

- Attack as 4-2-2-2. Commit 4 into the opposition box at all times.
-Direct balls in behind the likes of Alba and Lenglet. Who commit forward and are inexperienced to the English style.
-Put pace up against Pique. He's aging.
- Bypass midfield by going wide and crossing it. Overlaps and doubling up on the break. No blind alleys runs by Rashford.

The most important thing is to take shots on target and create a threat. We need deflections, we need to force errors, we may get another handball! Icon_lol

Barca have weaknesses. They have attacking full backs. They have average defenders who don't enjoy defending. They rely heavily on their keeper to bail them out.

We won't win the midfield battle, we just need to be direct and be physically more athletic and up for it.

Like Arsenal at Emirates.... In the Cup.

I would play

DDG
Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
Dalot McTominay Fred Pogba
Lukaku Rashford.

Subs: Martial, Lingard, Matic, Mata, Jones, Rojo, Romero

RE: [Champions League] Manchester Utd vs.Barcelona (10/04/19) 1st Leg
So we just about agree with the exception of Dalot.Icon_cool

Mind you, in my system I would also play as Lingard as a #10 instead of Andreas. If one player can press Pique relentlessly and stop him from starting Barca's play, it's Lingard. But we need the good Lingard. Not the one who we've seen in the last 2 months.

I wasn't in favor of Lukaku startinh, but after Barca's director dissed him, I hope he starts and rapes their CBs. Martial is too inconsistent anyway.

The latest news is that Matic and Herrera are out. Time for McTom and Fred to save us again!

I assume Fred will play on the left to support Shaw against Messi and Pogba will be in a free role.

Although if Wolves is any indication, this will probably be a 5-3-2 with Young as a CB again. Angry

Shaw as a left CB and Dalot as a left WB to stop Messi. Clever.

Shaw managed to get suspended for both competitions. Won't see him again until the derby on the 24th

Keep playing like this and we'll equalize. It's all about getting the right ball in the box

VAR used badly by the refs.

We should have got a penalty, if that was Messi, Pogba, Suarez or Coutinho.....100% penalty.
Busquets should have seen RED CARD. Like Kimpembe, escapes a red card because of anti-english team bias.

Fred and Lukaku have been the worst players. I would sell them based on this performance because it takes a bad player to perform badly tonight.

Pogba is the best midfielder on the pitch. Levels above like Messi & Suarez.

The cunt should have been sent off, but that wasn't a penalty, IMO. Not enough contact.

McTom has been brilliant, by the way. Working his ass off and battling their CMs like our last great Scot used to do.

Pity Young has been dogshite.

We have to score 1 . A poor side could score against this sloppy Barca side.

Never put those two in the same sentence mate Icon_lol

He's played every game, he should have done a Ramos and got a clean slate in Jan.
